Privacy Notice
How we handle your information with care and transparency.
Last updated: July 11, 2026
Note: This page is maintained by Breathe Amara to describe how we handle personal information. It is app-owner content, not an independent certification or audit report.
Who we are
Breathe Amara is the data controller for the personal information collected through Amara. Amara is a wellness companion app designed to help people navigate social anxiety and find calm.
What we collect
We collect limited information to provide and improve the Service:
- Account information: name, email address, and authentication details when you create an account.
- Usage data: how you interact with the app, such as feature usage, session length, and preferences.
- Wellness inputs: optional information you provide, such as anxiety anchors or somatic focus areas, to personalize your experience.
- Device and technical data: device type, operating system, IP address, and browser type for security and diagnostics.
- Support data: messages or information you share when contacting us for help.
Emails from the personalization survey
When you complete our onboarding personalization survey and provide your email address, we save it so we can send you a short, finite series of up to three transactional emails related to what you just requested:
- A confirmation that your personalized soundscape and profile are ready.
- A limited-time introductory offer to activate Amara Premium (valid for 7 days).
- A single reminder approximately 48 hours before that introductory offer expires.
These are the only emails triggered by completing the survey. We do not add you to a newsletter, a marketing list, a drip campaign, or any ongoing communications, and we do not share your email address with third parties for their own marketing. After the third email, the series ends and you will not receive further messages from this survey unless you become a paying subscriber (in which case you will receive standard billing and account emails).
Every email in the series includes a one-click unsubscribe link that immediately stops any remaining messages. You may also request removal at any time by emailing us at the address at the bottom of this page.
We rely on our legitimate interest in following up with people who requested a personalized soundscape (and, where applicable, on your consent) as the legal basis for these emails. Survey lead records that have not converted are retained for up to 12 months and then deleted.
How we use your information
We use your personal information to:
- Create and manage your account and subscription.
- Deliver the personalized features of Amara.
- Improve the Service and develop new features.
- Keep the Service secure and prevent fraud.
- Respond to your support requests and communicate updates.
Legal basis for processing
We process your information based on one or more of the following legal grounds: to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), to comply with legal obligations, to protect our legitimate interests (such as security and improvement), or with your consent where required.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data with trusted service providers who help us operate the Service:
- Paddle: our Merchant of Record, which handles payment processing, subscription management, tax, invoicing, and customer service inquiries related to purchases.
- Hosting and analytics providers: companies that provide secure infrastructure, error reporting, and usage analytics.
- Professional advisers: legal, accounting, or compliance professionals when required.
- Authorities: when required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
Data retention
We keep your personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Service, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and secure infrastructure. No online service is completely secure, and we encourage you to use a strong password and keep your account credentials safe.
Cookies and tracking
We may use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Some cookies are essential for the Service to function properly.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, or to receive a copy in a portable format. You may also object to certain processing or withdraw consent where applicable. To exercise your rights, contact us using the support options on our site.
Children's privacy
Amara is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
